凡学之道，严师为难

凡学之道，严师为难。师严，然后道尊。道尊，然后民知敬学。——《礼记·学记》

With regard to study, the most difficult thing is to heighten respect for the teacher.  Once the teacher is respected, Confucian doctrine is held in heigh esteem.  Once Confucian doctrine is held in high esteem, the people will study it in earnest. —— The Book of Rites, a Confucian classic
