君子深造之以道，欲其自得之也

君子深造之以道，欲其自得之也。自得之，则居之安。居之安，则资之深；资之深，则取之左右逢其原，故君子欲其自得之也。——孟子

一个有道德的人按照正确的方法来得到高深的造诣，就要他自觉地有所得。自觉地有所得就能牢固掌握此方法而不动摇。牢固地掌握它而不动摇，就能将德行积蓄很深，继续很深就能任意选择取舍，左右逢源。因此一个有道德的人在培养自己的道德时就应该自觉地有所得。——孟子

When a virtuous person wants to achieve great attainments according to the correct method, he should do this conscientiously.  In this way, he can has sound mastery of the method.  The sound mastery will let him have many qualifications.  When he has many qualifications, he can make free choices and achieve access one way or another.  So a virtuous person should achieve conscientiously when he is cultivating his virtues. ——Mencius
